Timeline from first symptom to diagnosis

Our son Connor was diagnosed with JDM in January of 2010 and here is a bit of a timeline to show you how this diagnosis was reached...

Towards the end of November 2009, Connor mentioned some pain in his right foot. We found a Plantar Wart and began treating it. We went on vacation in Germany were he mentioned a pain in his knee's, to feeling in his own words, pain 'inside his legs'. By the time we got home on December 9, he needed to be carried almost everywhere. By the end of December he was unable to feed himself, dress himself, sit up or down, lay down and of course walk. Here is a list of tests he went through between December 10 to December 28, 2009

X-ray of his Hips
MRI of his spine
X-ray of his chest
CAT Scan of his brain
CAT Scan of his chest
MRI of his chest
MRI of his hips
Numerous Blood Work
Spinal Tap
and we finished with a Muscle Biopsy

There were many speculations of what might be causing Connor so much pain and one of them was Gullian Barre Syndrom (GBS) due to his first symptoms showing up within a few days of his H1N1 Flu Shot.

The final Diagnosis came on January 11, 2010
-Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDM)-

All about 'Fussball' :)

So I am going off the JDM track today but how can I not when today was one of the most wonderful WorldCup Games for me to watch.
This morning at 7:30 AM the boys and I camped out in the living room to watch the highly anticipated and hyped up WorldCup match-up: Germany - Argentina. I am not sure if you follow the news about Soccer and the Rivalries between different Countries but this is one of the most explosive ones out there. There is not much love lost between the two teams so of course emotions can run high :)
I am not going to drag out this post anymore and just tell you that after a 4:0 win by Germany I have not stopped smiling and my heart is finally calming down. It was beautiful and this young German Team did just an amazing job.

Connor is doing well this morning and since it is Saturday my boys were camped out in front of the TV playing their PS3 and Star Wars Lego after the Soccer Game was over. They also got some playtime in outdoors which was good news for Tasha and Apple and myself since I love this gorgeous Colorado weather we are having. Warm but not Hot and best of all cool at night. Colorado at it's best, including living somewhere were we have a White Christmas :)
There was one short moment tonight when Connor got on my lap after his bath and told me he was not feeling so well and maybe he needs to go back into the Hospital. I asked him what he means he is not feeling well and if this means we should stay home tomorrow and take it easy to which he replied 'No Mami, I am feeling better now' and off he got to go back to play with his Playmobil. Strange.

Hoping your start into the 4th of July weekend was as pleasant as ours.

Best Wishes,

R A C A
